Digital distribution development (Also known as digital delivery) is the principle of building application to provide rich media and content over the Internet in the form of products or services. It has been growing rapidly since the turn of the century due to the increase in consumer broadband usage.

Allow users to select and watch video and/or clip content over a Internet as part of interactive video technology. These systems either "stream" content, allowing viewing in real time, or "download to own" content, bringing the program in its entirety to a set-top box before viewing begins. The latter is more appropriately termed "store and forward". The majority of corporations and business use a streaming method, whereby a user buys or watches a movie or video content and it begins to play almost instantaneously.
